Wisdom from Above

Hello everyone!

I want to start today’s blog with a Bible verse from the chapter of James in the New Testament. I’m sure many of you are wondering exactly what the title of today’s blog means. I hope this verse will shed some light on that before I begin the discussion.

James 3:17 AMP; But the wisdom from above is first pure [morally and spiritually undefiled], then peace-loving [courteous, considerate], gentle, reasonable [and willing to listen], full of compassion and good fruits. It is unwavering, without [self-righteous] hypocrisy [and self-serving guile].

As I read this the other day before penning this article, I thought to myself how little of this wisdom from above (God’s wisdom) we see in our country today. Read the verse again. How many of our political parties are exercising such wisdom? The answer is sadly, none. They are too busy trying to one-up each other instead of do what is best for the whole. As you read that verse again, did it occur to you that to have Godly wisdom and live and personify that as much as we can as humans that we might not fall neatly on either side of the political isle? I could not stop thinking about this the other day. God’s wisdom, this wisdom from above is apolitical and it supersedes our political thought of this day and age. Does that make you stop and think? What exactly do I mean? By that statement, I mean that just because a political party or leader thinks something is good or right or says something is good or right, does not mean God thinks it is good or right. God is apolitical – Jesus proved this in his many dealings with the religious-political leaders of his day. He walked in wisdom from above and in His Kingdom purpose, not in the purpose of the Roman Empire or in the purpose of the self-righteous Jewish leaders. I would also like to point out that he did not encourage nor condone violence or disobedience toward established authority figures. Do you see where I’m going with this?

We as people in America must learn to walk in the wisdom from above. If we do, there will not be pipe bombs sent to former and current political leaders. There will be no more political extremist groups. There will not be unnecessary tweets from our president. There will be no domestic violence, sexual assault or child abuse. There will be no fear of people coming from a distant land seeking asylum and safety. There will be no more racism. There will be no unwanted children or orphans. There will be no drug addiction. There will be no more crime. Can you imagine the change we would see in the media? I can assure you neither side of the media spectrum is walking in such wisdom and it would benefit them all as networks and human beings. Do you see the advantage to walking in wisdom from above? It removes selfishness, pain and harmful mindsets and in so doing, we stop hurting ourselves and other people. I can’t think of a better reason America to start taking James 3:17 to heart. We have too long valued the wisdom of this world and to what gain? Money? Power? Might? These things do not last – they wax and wane as time moves ever forward. Such worldly wisdom is shifting sand.

America, turn your eyes to the wisdom from above. When we do, we will elect leaders who walk in that wisdom from the White House to the small town courthouse. We will be better individuals, have healthier families and communities and be a beacon of Light to our global neighbors, near and far. This ladies and gentlemen, will truly make America great again – and we won’t need a campaign slogan. Walking in His wisdom, Elizabeth
