Hello everyone and Happy Valentine's Day!
In honor of Valentine's Day, I wanted to take today and to write about how we can love others best!
We love people best when we see them make mistakes and love them anyway. We love people best when we tell them the truth as kindly as we can and still love them, even if they don't like it. We love people best when we do not make them our pet projects or try to fix them. People are not "objects" for us to fix. People are God's creation for us to love. God is in the "fixing" business.
We love people best when we accept them where they are at in their life and keep loving them. We love people best when we don't allow them to hurt us or trample our boundaries. Sometimes we must love people best from a distance. We love people best when we are not using them deal with hurts only God can heal.
We love people best when we love ourselves so we can love others. We love people best when we allow God to love us like no human being ever could. It is only in knowing how much God loves you, that you can love others.
We love people best, especially our partners, when we approach them with selflessness instead of selfishness. Selfishness is never a badge of honor or a bragging point. It leave us lonely and broken. It leaves us without love.
We love people best when we choose the high road instead of the low road. We love people best when we choose to give to them, regardless of whether they can or will give back to us.
I will be the first to tell you I have not gotten all of this right. In fact, there have been times I have failed miserably. When we fail, God is there to pick us back up, dust us off and He always keep loving us. People may not always be forgiving and this is when we have to accept that we did not love them as well as we could have and choose to love better - even if we never get another chance with them. I have found God turns everything around for our good - even our worst mistakes.
I want to thank all of you for reading, subscribing and for loving my work. May you love well always and may you know how much God trully loves you all!!
With much love,
Elizabeth
