Hello everyone!
My first trip of the summer took me literally from the beaches of South Carolina to the mountains of South Carolina and to many other states as well. I had never spent time in the mountains of South Carolina so that was new fun!
We spent my boyfriend, Tim's, birthday at Myrtle Beach and took a boat ride to see some sealife which we both thouroughly enjoyed. This was a fun in the sun day! And yes the water was cold but we enjoyed every minute of it! We also got to eat at Wahlburgers that day and do some shopping at Boardwalk at the Beach - I highly recommend that. Needless to say, we were both worn out and Tim had a great birthday!
The next day we visited the Hollywood Wax Museum in Myrtle Beach. They have a variety of celebrity wax figures - some that look real and some not so much. We also got to do a Maze of Mirrors which neither of us had ever done and a Zombie Haunted Theme house if you will - I will admit that was scary but fun! I'm a bit of a wimp in haunted houses and such so I hung onto Tim. I highly recommend visiting the wax museum in Myrtle Beach as well and get the 3 adventure package so you can do all three attractions.
We followed up our time at the beach with two days of hiking and camping in the SC mountains in Chattooga Falls, Oconee County - a place I happened upon by accident (or maybe not so much) in a magazine the weekend before. We also visited a winery and distillery near there and got to do some mooshine tasting, yes, I said moonshine tasting - quite the experience.
As you have probably guessed, we spent quite alot of time driving, listening to great music and talking as well. We drove back to Oklahoma through one of my favorite states, Tennessee, and even got to go through some more of the beautiful Appalachian mountains. Tim got to see several states he had not been to either.
It may have been a quick trip but it was a great trip! I am thankful Tim asked me to go as I'm always up for a new adventure.
I have a short weekend trip planned in June and a cruise in August that I will be blogging about as well. Here's to summer travels of 2017!!
Until next time,
Elizabeth
