Preparation

Hello everyone!

In my everyday work life, I do alot of planning and preparing for things I hope never happen. I also help others prepare for real and theoretical events. In my personal life, I am preparing for another half marathon at the end of the month. I continue to prepare for my home, even though I haven't found one I want to buy yet. I am preparing for my book signing in April. The Lord is even preparing me for new things - I know this because of the stirring in my heart.

My point is we all have to prepare for things in this life. Your list may look different than mine. You may be preparing for school, a career, a life change, a home, a job change, a relationship change or even a storm- the list can go on. You either prepare as best you can or you get surprised. Surprises, however, can also come with some of best layed plans. I call these life's curve balls. I have learned to prepare myself for what I can, all the while trusting God for everything.

Yes I brought up trust again because life has this fabulous way of throwing those above mentioned curve balls. Trust works hand in hand with preparation. I believe trust is a part of preparation for life's curve balls. Trust gives us our anchor - in this case trust in God. Besides, without an anchor, all your plans and preparations will have nothing to ground them and nothing to ground you should one of life's curve balls knock you down. Believe me, when my husband died (my biggest curve ball yet), had I not trusted God, I don't know where I'd be or what I'd be into right now.

I want to encourage you to prepare for as many things in this life as are humanly possible. I believe with preparation will come success. However, I also want to encourage you to put your trust in God. He is the best anchor you have against life's curve balls and upsets - the things you can't see coming, the things that knock you down and knock the wind out of your sails. Honestly, with Him, there is nothing you can't prepare for and nothing you can't face. He loves you first and foremost. He cares about your life and there is nothing He can't do or handle for you. He is never surprised by life's curve balls. He is never surprised by anything. In Him, all things become possible. Trust me when I say you can trust Him in your preparation, for He is trully good.

For all of you like me, the planners and preparers, be prepared and keep planning. However, don't forget to trust the One Who knows everything about you and has nothing but good in store for you.

Until next time,

Elizabeth
