Hello everyone!
Merry Christmas!! This is one of my favorite seasons of the year! I love the lights, the goodies, the trees, the decorations, the family time and giving presents! However, the most important gift we have ever received is Jesus. We celebrate his birth in this season because without him, our world would be dark and hopeless.
I have often wondered what Mary thought of all this; the angel Gabrielle, Jesus, the shepherds and the wise men. We aren't really told what she thought but I believe she marveled at it all. How could she not? I've often wondered what did the wise men and the shepherds think? I bet they weren't even sure what all this meant at the time.
All I know is I am thankful for Jesus coming to us. He is Emmanuel (Immanuel in Hebrew), God with us!
Isaiah 7:14; Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Listen carefully, the [a]virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and she will call his name Immanuel (God with us).
As you celebrate the season over the next few weeks with your family and friends, please remember why we celebrate Christmas. It's not about the stuff, the decorations or the hype (although we can enjoy those). Christmas is about Jesus!
Until next time,
Elizabeth
